The US Cable News Network (CNN) reported one day later, 4th of September 2009, on the same problem, describing the situation in Dadaab as “appalling”. According to a spokesman for Oxfam, Robbert Van den Berg, Somali refugees escape dreadful situation at home just to end up in the similar one abroad. Dadaab camp faces infections to which hundreds of children die. Medicine and drinking water also lack in this area. Furthermore, the spokesman points out the Kenyan government failed to provide more space for refugees, as it was promised. However, the federal communication official reported to CNN that Kenyan government is aware of the growing problem and is trying to find a solution. But why do those people leave their home countries in first place? Don't they know that if they get to other country living situation there is unbearable?
ReplyDeleteMost of the Somali refugees come from Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. For past few years, this city has been divided and a sort of civil war and terror on the civilians have been imposed on the citizens. It is for them, therefore, to live in horrible conditions, with the possible risk of their life, rather than stay in the capital and be sure of the risk of their life.
