By Magda On 12th of September 2009, UNHCR released the official report of the visit made by the Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie to the Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya. The same day the UN News Service posted their report on the event, where they cite Jolie’s words about the camp. Angelina Jolie described the situation in the Dadaab as “one of the most dire”. According to UNHCR, Angelina Jolie was during her a day-long visit able to associate with the local people and listen to their stories. Angelina commented on the situation before she left: I wish more people could meet them [Somali refugees], then they would have a stronger desire to help."

The question to the world now remains: Is the presence of the famous public figure able to draw more attention to this camp forgotten by the world?
