On September 3^rd 2009, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported on the Somali camps’ conditions. According to BBC observation, refugee camps in Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya are “barely fit for humans”. The most extreme example would be Dadaab camp in north-eastern Kenya. This camp for 90,000 nowadays hosts 300,000 refugees. A worker of Oxfam, the international agency that supplies, supports and develops programs focused on poverty and injustice, interviewed to BBC that what is really needed in Dadaab is extra land and space to spread the people.

The US Cable News Network (CNN) reported one day later, 4^th of September 2009, on the same problem, describing the situation in Dadaab as “appalling”. According to a spokesman for Oxfam, Robbert Van den Berg, Somali refugees escape dreadful situation at home just to end up in the similar one abroad. Dadaab camp faces infections to which hundreds of children die. Medicine and drinking water also lack in this area. Furthermore, the spokesman points out the Kenyan government failed to provide more space for refugees, as it was promised. However, the federal communication official reported to CNN that Kenyan government is aware of the growing problem and is trying to find a solution. The future meetings should discuss the possibility of creating a new camp in Kenya, or transporting a part of refugees to a different location.
